OUR BEGINNING
Founded in 1919, The Hitching Post has been part of thousands of love stories—weddings, vow renewals, and cherished memories passed down through generations.
The current chapel location, established in the 1950s, sits directly across from the Kootenai County Clerk’s office, making it highly convenient for couples obtaining their marriage licenses and immediately proceeding to their ceremony.
The building’s aesthetic blends a quaint, Old-West style facade with warm, personal interiors. Three distinct rooms offer different atmospheres for various sizes and styles of ceremonies — from the Main Chapel (seating up to 15), to smaller rooms with Victorian or Western themes.
OUR VALUES
Personalization - Every ceremony is treated as unique — couples can choose modest decor, intimate settings, and meaningful touches
Tradition with heart - Rooted in Christian faith, the chapel honors both the spiritual and emotional dimensions of marriage
Generational legacy - Many couples, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren return to the same place where ceremonies occurred decades ago, continuing a legacy of love
Nestled in the heart of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, the Hitching Post Wedding Chapel is a beloved institution for couples seeking an intimate, meaningful, Christian wedding ceremony. Across more than a century of service, it has become a storied part of the Northwest’s wedding tradition
